  • My name is Mary Purdy

  • I am a licensed in home child care provider (#250459) (7 years and counting)

  • I am CRP, AED and First Aid Certified

  • I am required by MSDE to complete at least 12 hours of in-service training per year

  • I am licensed for a total of 8 children. (Please keep in mind my own children count until they are at least 6 years of age)

  • I participate in Maryland Excels (Which is a Quality Rating and Improvement System)

  • I completed the highest level in Early Child Development, available through high school completers

  • Before becoming a mom I was the manager at a local dessert distributor, for 5 wonderful years.

  • After becoming a Stay at home mom I automatically became the go to date night, and back up care sitter. Which I loved, and then decided to open Purdy's Family Child Care.

My Family and Home like Atmosphere

I have two beautiful daughters, Marlee O’Meara (7) and Madelyn O’Meara (4) "Maddy". We are accompanied by my Husband and their father Michael O’Meara "Mike". Since this is your child’s home away from home, I try to provide a safe, caring home like atmosphere for your children while at the same time providing for their physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. Please adventure my site carefully and feel free to discuss with me any questions that you may have. My daycare is a business, I consider myself a professional and run my business accordingly. With that being said, I value the relationships I build with each of the children and the partnership I build with each of the parents. I support the open door policy. You are invited and welcome to visit Purdy’s Family Childcare anytime your children are present. You are asked to avoid visiting during Rest Time (1:30pm and 3:30pm). Please knock first. Parents are also free to call Purdy’s Family Child Care at any time. If I do not answer the phone, please leave a message, and I will call you back as soon as I am finished with the current activity.

Daily Schedule

7:30 – 8:00 am: My home is open! I Welcome all and Free Play

During this time, I will welcome each child, and allow each child to free play. I will also prep for breakfast while the children play.

9:00 - 9:30 am: Breakfast

9:45- 10:30 am: Circle time

10:30 - 11:30 am: Outdoor Play (Weather Permitting) (Theme related activity/circle time in bad weather). If the weather permits, now is a great time to take the children outside. In case of inclement weather I will have another activity for back up.

11:00 – 11:50am: educational instruction with pre literacy activities. To meet needs of each age group, developmental level, and IEPs. I will, follow up with activities with small group and individualized instructions.

12:00 - 12:30 pm: Lunch Time

12:40 - 1:15 pm: Outdoor Play (Weather Permitting) (Theme related activity/free play with bad weather). If the weather permits.

1:30 – 3:30 pm: Quiet/Rest time

This is a great time for quiet time, especially if you’re child(ren) arrive at 7:30. Child(ren) are not forced to sleep, however they must be quiet so they do not disturb the children who are sleeping. I will start quiet time with a book, to help the children settle in. Early risers can do a quiet activity until quiet/rest time is over. Quiet time may extend to 4:00pm.

4:00 - 4:15 pm: Afternoon Snack

4:30 – 5:00 pm: Free play prepare to leave

Allow the children some free time to play in the afternoon as they wait for their parents to pick them up.

Please keep in mind that this schedule is very flexible, and changes may be needed when necessary. We wash hands before and after meals, before and after potty breaks or diaper changes, and after outdoor play and or craft activities. At any time a child needs to use the restroom or has any other need, they come first, before the above scheduled activities. The presence of infants, children with IFSP/IEP’s, or other special health care needs may alter the schedule.  Different children’s drop off/ pick up times may impact the flow of things as well. For parents of infant’s I will set a schedule that best meets your desires and your infant’s individual needs. In addition each month I’ll have a specific theme assigned. Most activities will be designed to follow each theme. I have an open door policy, however I request that visits are not made between the hours of 1:30pm and 3:30pm if at all possible.
